Dear Professor Bokenkamp,
I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude.I am referring to
that unfortunate accident the other day, when I was knocked off my bike
by a taxi.
I am very pleased to inform you that Beijing University is
organizing an academic conference entitled “The Sino-US Conference on
Philosophy and Religious Studies” on December 8-9 in Beijing.
I hear that you are planning a sightseeing trip to China.Well,I have
just returned from a place I am sure you will enjoy——Xi’an,the
captial of Shanxi Province, and one of the most wonderful tourist
destinations in the country.
You are going to host a club reading session. Write an email of
about 100 words recommending a book to the club members。
If it had not been for your timely assistance in giving me first aid,I
fear that the consequences of the accident might have been much more
serious.Everyone agrees that it was your quick-witted response in that
emergency that has led to this satisfactory outcome.
You are cordially invited to participate in this important Chinese
academic event as a guest speaker. You will be welcome to participate
fully in all activities of the conference, including
workshops,seminars,and recreational activities.Your round-trip air
ticket and accommodation expenses will be subsidized.
Xi’an was the captial of thirteen dynasties,so the place is full
of ancient relics.I spent one week there, and didn’t have the chance to
see even half of them. The major attractions are the Terracotta
Warriors and Horses, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Banpo Neolithic
